Altoona Action. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide via Al Chione that was taken in Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1964. The photographer is not identified. Prominent here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9227, a BS-6A switcher built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in January of 1949, rated at 660 horsepower, and retired in May of 1965 after just 16 years of revenue service. Along with several other well-worn diesels, it's been marshalled for movement to the recycling center. The two-track signal bridge at the right spans the mainline passenger tracks at this point.
