Here is the third of four original photos of deadlined GG-1's that were taken by an unidentified photographer at Amtrak's Electric Locomotive Shops in Wilmington, Delaware, on 21 June 1981. Shown here (R to L) are AMTK engines #4912, #4934, #4921, and another unit whose number is not recorded. All are GG-1's built by the Pennsylvania Railroad's Juniata Shops and rated at 4,620 horsepower each. #4912 was built in January of 1942, #4934 was constructed in June of 1942 and originally numbered "4917," and #4921 was built in August of 1942 and originally numbered "4926." |

Marianchuk. Here is an original photo by an unidentified photographer that was taken in Wilmington, Delaware, c. 1983. Shown here is Amtrak engine #4934, a GG-1 (2-C-C-2) electric built in Juniata as Pennsylvania Railroad number "4917" during June of 1942, rated at 4,620 horsepower, acquired by Amtrak and renumbered "4934," and now just rusts away near Oneonta, New York. Note the faded Conrail logo on the emergency exit door. The name of the erstwhile engineman is Attila Varady. |
