Description:  Here is page two of a six-page article entitled "100 Years Ago: The Johnstown Flood And The Pennsylvania Railroad." It was published originally in the "National Railway Bulletin," Volume 54, Number 5, 1989, page 13. Partial Caption: "R-class Consolidation No. 1309 appears to have fared well during the flood, with only a pile of debris heaped against its front end." Pennsylvania Railroad engine #1309 is an H-3 (2-8-0) "Consolidated" built in the Altoona Machine Shops during January of 1889 and retired in June of 1915 after 26 years of faithful service; it's barely five-months old when this disaster occurred.
