Title:
Teller, "Speed-Safety-Comfort," 1936
Description:
Here is the 11th of 33 color prints of calendar art works that were commissioned by the Pennsylvania Railroad from 1925 through 1958. Shown here is Grif Teller's painting entitled "Speed-Safety-Comfort." It was published originally in 1936. Depicted here is PRR engine #4823, a GG-1 (2-C-C-2) electric built in Juniata in June of 1935, rated at 4,620 horsepower, and retired in March of 1967 after 32 years of service. Note the vessels sailing up the Delaware River to Philadelphia.
