Rye to Washington, #3 of 13, 1987 |
Description: |
R2W. Here is the third of 13 original photos that I took while riding an Amtrak passenger train from Rye, New York, to Washington, DC, on 26 July 1987. Shown here is Amtrak engine #925, an AEM7 built by GM-EMD in January of 1981 and rated at 7,000 horsepower. In this context, it's just entering the Rye Passenger Station and will soon stop to discharge and taken on passengers on its journey from Boston, Massachusetts, to Washington, DC. Wave to the Engineman! |

Rye to Washington, #7 of 13, 1987 |
Description: |
R2W. Here is the seventh of 13 original photos that I took while riding in an Amtrak passenger train from Rye, New York, to Washington, DC, on 26 July 1987. Shown here pulling the train is AMTK engine #925, an AEM7 built by GM-EMD in January of 1981 and rated at 7,000 horsepower. In this context, my train is now on Amtrak's tracks leading to Hell Gate Bridge, New York's Pennsylvania Station, and points South. Not shown are Metro North's tracks that veer off to the right and lead to Grand Central Terminal in Manhattan. This junction is controlled by SHORE Tower (not shown at the far left). |
