Description:
Here is an original photo by Douglas C. Jones that was taken in Morris Park, New York, c. 1952. Photo taken from within the Long Island Rail Road's roundhouse. At the left is the turntable, then there's diesel-electric engine #454, and in the distance is the concrete Coaling Tipple. #454 is an LIRR Class S-2 switcher built by the American Locomotive Company in January of 1949 and rated at 1,000 horsepower. #11 of 11.
