Viewing Album: PRR: Davis ~> Cab Ride In T-1 #6111 ~ JUL 1943 (R)
By:
Thomas C. Ayers
Dates:
7/1/1943 - 7/1/1943
Album Info:
Here is an eight-page article by Mr. Russ Davis entitled "Riding The Pennsy T-1." It was published originally in "The Mutual Magazine" and republished later in the July 1943 issue of "Trains" magazine, pages 32-39. "Underneath, the big drivers slowly make their first turn. Almost tenderly, [Engineman H.P.] Wian inches the throttle open and the big engine ~ like a sleeping ogre coming to life and still a bit dazed by it all ~ trembles and then bears down. The over-all rumbling increases to a steady thump, thump, thump. There is a roaring from the exhaust that sounds like the interior of a volcano, troubled for the moment with a slight gastric disturbance, and No. 6111 is on its way." (Page 34) * Repaired Album *
