Album Info:Here is a four-page article by Lon Godshall & Kris Klemick entitled "Conrail's Crown Jewel: The Hollidaysburg Car Shops." It was published originally in the Summer 2005 edition of the Conrail Historical Society's magazine, pages 11-14. "When [Conrail] assumed operations in 1976, the new railroad quickly eradicated smaller, duplicative facilities. The carshops capable of heavy repairs left remaining by the mid-1980's were the former [Erie-Lackawanna] carshops in Meadville and the former [Pennsylvania Railroad] carshops in Hollidaysburg. By the mid-1990's, only Hollidaysburg remained as the last [Conrail] carshop capable of performing the heavy repairs, rebuilding, and repainting that once almost all of [Conrail's] predecessor railroads at one time performed themselves." Description:  Here is page four of a four-page article by Lon Godshall & Kris Klemick entitled "Conrail's Crown Jewel: The Hollidaysburg Car Shops." It was published originally in the Summer 2005 edition of the Conrail Historical Society's magazine, page 14. Posing in front of Conrail G52L 100-ton gondola #503282 is a group of Hollidaysburg Car Shop railroaders, circa 1990. This car was once a three-bay H-43 100-ton hopper that was built in Hollidaysburg during 1964, but was later transformed into a flat-bottomed gondola in 1990 ~ a quarter of a century later!
