Album Info:Here is a two-page article by Mr. David P. Morgan entitled "Enter The E-44's." It was published originally in the February 1961 issue of "Trains" magazine, pages 22-23. Photographs by Mr. Don Wood. "In service, the E-44's should give a good account of themselves. Though they are only fractionally heavier than the 90 old 2-C-2 P-5a's, they're slated to replace, the E-44's produce 18 per cent more horsepower and should be able to utilize it inasmuch as the entire locomotive weight is carried on driving axles. Initial maximum tractive effort is 89,000 pounds, and the unit is geared for a top speed of 70 mph." (Page 23)
