Mr. H.P. Ruck, 1971 |
Description: |
Here is the newspaper clipping from the 22 September 1971 issue of the "Altoona Mirror" announcing the passing of Herbert P. Ruck, one-time Superintendent of the Pennsylvania Railroad's Altoona Car Shops. He lived from 1903 until 1971 and worked for the PRR from 1919 until 1968, so he spent 49 of his 68 years on Planet Earth workin' on the railroad! |

Mr. H.P. Ruck, 1962 |
Description: |
Here is an original photo that I took at the Pennsylvania Railroad's Samuel Rea Shop (SRS) in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, on 18 August 1962. Shown here (L-R) are Herbert P. Ruck and James Dodson. They are standing next to a newly-built hopper car during an "Open House" at SRS. Mr. Ruck was the overall Superintendent of the Altoona Car Shops at the time, while Mr. Dodson was a Gang Foreman at SRS. |
