Album Info:Here are 13 original photos that I took during a trip on Pennsylvania Railroad passenger trains from Wilmington to Altoona on 03 July 1964. It is worth noting that few of the photos that I took between Wilmington and Harrisburg are worth publishing; those that are presented here were all taken between Harrisburg and Altoona. These color slides are presented in the order that I took them.

Description:  WIL-ALT-64. Here is an original photo that I took while riding in a Pennsylvania Railroad Train from North Philadelphia to Harrisburg on 03 July 1964. Shown here is the PRR's ZOO Tower. As far as PRR passenger traffic is concerned, this is where the lines from the West (i.e., Chicago and Saint Louis) merge with the lines going North and South (i.e., New York City and Washington).

Description:  WIL-ALT-64. Here is an original photo that I took during a trip on Pennsylvania Railroad passenger trains from Wilmington to Altoona on 03 July 1964. Shown here (L to R) are PRR engines #5798 and #5874, Both were built by EMD. #5798 is an EP-22 built in 1952 and rated at 2,250 horsepower. #5874 is an EP-20 built in 1949 and rated at 2,000 horsepower. They are about to couple onto an 18-car passenger train heading to Altoona, Pittsburgh, and points West. (Note the duplicate "PRR" logos on the front door.)

Shown here is PRR engine #4894, a GG-1 built in Juniata during April of 1940. It is pulling a 19-car mail/express train (plus two cabin cars) through the Harrisburg Passenger Station on its way to Philadelphia and points East.

Description:  WIL-ALT-64. Here is an original photo that I took during a trip on Pennsylvania Railroad passenger trains from Wilmington to Altoona on 03 July 1964. Shown here (R to L) are PRR engines #5838, #5850-B, and #5794. All were built by EMD. #5838 is an EP-22 built in 1951 and rated at 2,250 horsepower. #5850-B is an EP-20 built in 1947 and rated at 2,000 horsepower. #5794 is an EP-22 built in 1952 and rated at 2,250 horsepower. With four cars already coupled on, they are waiting to couple onto a 16-car passenger train heading to Altoona, Pittsburgh, and points West.

Description:  WIL-ALT-64. Here is an original photo that I took during a trip on Pennsylvania Railroad passenger trains from Wilmington to Altoona on 03 July 1964. Shown here is PRR engine #4920, a GG-1 built in Juniata during July of 1942. It has pulled a 16-car passenger train from New York and Philadelphia into the Harrisburg Passenger Station, and is about to uncouple. Three Diesels (headed by PRR engine #5838) and four more cars will soon couple on, and then the now-20-car passenger train will head west to Altoona, Pittsburgh, and points West.
